Okay guys, we own the books. We have played these systems (barring Death Watch *isnt out yet*) to literal death. Im currently running a DH campaign and i am playing in a rouge trader one.
Want my personal opinion oh which is the better mechanic?
Rouge Trader is 100% better...
Not because it seems cooler. Its because of the game mechanics... trust me. DH can be very, very broken...
Not to mention that in DH just by firing a H Bolter you can deplete the wealth of an entire small planet (just for a 10 second burst)
The wealth makes no sense. RT fixed all that, and the characters, and everything else. The only gripe is the ship combat. I suggest if you plan on using the rules in RT for it, you might want to set aside one week just to turn the bloody ship around in one direction... Its rather tedious...
If you want anymore heads up give me a shout, i cant recall a time when i havent been playing a RPG of some discription 5 times a week...
